Shane Mosley, a legendary boxer who faced some of the greatest names in the sport, including Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, and Oscar De La Hoya, has revealed the toughest puncher he ever encountered. Despite his impressive career, Mosley's most challenging opponent was not the one who won, but the one who hit him the hardest.
Mosley's career was filled with elite-level knockout artists, and he faced several formidable punchers. In 2011, he collided with the then-WBO world welterweight champion, Manny Pacquiao, who was known for his ferocious punching power. Despite losing the fight by unanimous decision, Mosley demonstrated his remarkable durability and survival skills.
Before that, in 2007, Mosley faced Miguel Cotto, another heavy-handed boxer at 147 lbs, and again, he lost by unanimous decision. However, Mosley's success in defusing explosive attacks from other opponents cannot be overlooked.
Mosley emerged victorious against both De La Hoya and Fernando Vargas, showcasing his ability to handle powerful punches. He also dismantled Antonio Margarito, a potent puncher, with a ninth-round stoppage win in 2009.
But according to Mosley, the fighter who hit him the hardest was Vernon Forrest, a two-weight world champion. In an interview with Ring Magazine, Mosley revealed that Forrest's natural power caused him the most problems during their two encounters in 2002. Despite losing to Forrest, Mosley's resilience and ability to absorb powerful punches are a testament to his skill and determination.
"I’m not sure why; maybe it was just natural. [Forrest] just hit the hardest," Mosley said, highlighting the immense power Forrest brought to the ring.
